The scars shown in the photo of the Dobe's neck are 100% from a prong collar, for Steve Gossmeyer to deny that in those email messages was just ridiculous.
First (and last) time I ever met Steve, it was literally like my first or second time ever at a club.
He began by telling me my breeder is a scam artist (In fact, I think it was: "That there dude is a scam artist"...talking about Ed Frawley), and then amidst his various other brags he included: "I can put a hurtin' on a dog."
Yes, "a hurtin' "
Apparently, he's not lying!
He also showed off scars on his stomach from various errant bites.

Just curious, how would one manage to do that to a dog's neck with a prong collar? I agree the scars are in the shape of a prong collar, but my dogs have never had anything that looked like that? Do you think he sharpened the prongs or something?
ps everyone take this information for what you want. as i said i am only training my dogs anymore. so i have made my responds and no further need to. think of this what you will and take it for what its worth
It isn't worth anything.
If you had a shred of integrity you would have refunded Mr. Brock's money immediately instead of dicking him around.

Ah, memories, eh Steve?
Yes, that stomach viewing was particularly fantastic, wasn't it? I refer back to that whenever I'm tempted to eat something I shouldn't.
To be totally honest and fair...I saw a few marks on that Dobe that could've just happened from being in a kennel (the leg callouses are from concrete). *That is all* I see that could've just "happened" w/out gross negligence/abuse. I had a dog I took in who wore a prong for about a week due to temperament and circumstances. No marks. I think it had to be a very cheap prong (or sharpened) and it had to have been left on the entire time, very tightly. The dog I took it off of when I could suffered absolutely zero marks, but it was a properly fitted HS, and I wasn't using it; I just couldn't take it off b/c the freak would bite me. I think he he was really yanking on the dog for a long time, daily, and kept the collar on him 24/7.
He PM'd me after reading this thread initially and told me I wasn't justified in my comments about him. I told him I disagreed, and based on what I know about him, I think I was rather kind and objective. He said I had a bad opinion of him b/c of stories I heard from my friend (who Steve lived off of for a while) and I assured him that wasn't the case. I had a bad opinion of him because I met him more than I care to remember.
Steve L. didn't mention the 2 spinning Mals in crates in the back of his POS car w/K9 stickers all over it. Who does he think he's kidding? He is a hillbilly dog beater.
I do wonder why someone leaves their dog in someone else's care w/out ever visiting them to see how they are? I have had my dog w/a friend for a couple weeks at a time, but never w/out seeing them, and never with a stranger. I do think people considering letting their dog sleep somewhere else need to really do their research.

For the same reason from what I see in the pictures that it wasn't a prong. Will might be seeing something I'm not in this picture though. It looks like wounds from a e collar that was left on for days on end multiple times which I have seen before. Basically an embedded collar with the stim points going in first. The swelling and the knots which result are recovering tissue or infection where the stim points enter the neck.
If you take a tight bracelet and put it on your wrist and wear it all day it leaves a pressure mark. If you were to leave it on for a week odds are it'd be in your skin in some points.
This whole situation is ugly and lacking some key details.
