Sounds like there are some tough choices to make. I am a TERRIBLE liar, unfortunately. I'm pretty good at being openly defiant and generally difficult, but that would not serve me at all in this instance
I don't allow my dogs contact with wild animals when camping or, well, period. They are leashed and I am very careful.
I'm the same way. I even lug my stupid x-pen out into the woods with me
It's pretty rotten to be forced to make a choice between complying with the law, or protecting the health of my dog. It's a no-brainer, anyway.
So, a "document", eh?

Me too, me too! I personally like openly defiant and generally difficult; it suits me. At the very least, whoever is on the receiving end usually decides it's not worth arguing over.
I heard a hypothetical situation one time about a certain openly defiant, generally difficult individual who absolutely had to produce a proof of rabies for a country-crossing expedition, and I think I might have heard that this person took a legit one that was older and sort of fixed it on the computer to make it newer. I think that might be sort of how it went.

And if I have to use a vet, the dogs had shots at another vets office or at a clinic.
This message will self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2...
You=genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I get Neb's balls done that's what I'll use.
I got Luc done (he was, uh, overdue) to take him across the border and then NOBODY, going either way, asked for proof of it. I was pissed. Not only did I get him vaccinated, which I wasn't thrilled with, but I paid like $200 (to be fair, that included heartworm testing and meds, so okay, I paid like $90, but you get my point. I was like 'dammit, I don't even agree with this vaccine! SOMEBODY look at the stupid papers!)! I did some more research and I think the US views Canada as a rabies-free zone.

And Kristel, if you got caught, I doubt they'd do anything other than order you to get your pet vaccinated.
It was when I figured that out that I decided that I wouldn't do rabies. Prior to that, I had thought I would do it b/c it was required by law.
....I mean, when I license the dogs, they ask if the dog is fixed (I pay $60 to license Neb because he's intact, twice what Luc and Teagan cost), but not if they're vaccinated. There's nothing there about it at all. So I don't think it's a huge focus, at least here.

I tell them my dog is not broken.
I paid an additional $150 "intact fee" for the privilege I've granted Caleb of keeping the equipment he was provided with at birth. He is the only one of my dogs who is current on rabies...and it's is ONLY because he is the most likely to bite someone and there is a mandatory rabies test in my area for any dog who bites w/out being vaccinated. He has only had one shot during his life. I don't know that I'll do it again when it expires, since I moved to the boonies and have dramatically cut back on our idiot encounters.

Kristel, I think I'd go ahead and agree here, on the public forum, to get them then make your final decision offline.
I still fail to see the logic behind openly, on a public forum admitting non-compliance.
Accidents happen without us even trying. We don't call them "on purposes".
Better to stack the odds in your favor, and not give anyone black and white text to use against you.

What's the difference? If you get busted, they can only make you get them a shot. If they bite someone and don't have a shot, then you have a problem, whether you've publicly admitted it or not. You still don't have a rabies shot, even if you don't "admit non-compliance" on a public forum. <shrug>
I'll get them when they force me and they have to have a reason to find out in the first place. Being responsible eliminates 90% of the chances you'll be faced w/a documentation issue.

Boy, I could not agree more. This thread is extremely ill-advised.

I agree with Jenni on this, which is why I openly admitted non-compliance.
And all my dogs except for Neb are up-to-date.
I do see what you and Connie are saying though.
