Or when Connie isn't online to tell us if fricken' boiled squash is OK.
Michael tracked me down.
Heck, yeah, pureed cooked winter squash like butternut is exactly the same idea (and it too comes in cans nowadays).
The only one I would try to avoid that's similar is sweet potato because it has so much more sugar in it (I mean natural sugar) than pumpkin or butternut or the other common squashes.
OK, guys, I am not Connie. But I love to cook. Canned pumpkin is not available now, because there was some sort of shortage due to weather in the fall and they could not harvest it. HOWEVER, butternut squash is the same kind of thing. In fact a lot of people make pies with it. (people in the south will know what I'm talkin' about). Soooo, get some butternut squash (or any other winter squash) in the produce section. Cut it in half and put the cut sides down on a baking sheet (brushed with oil) and cook for about an hour at 350 or so degrees. Let it cool. Scoop it out and give to the dog.
Now, really watery poop does not sound good to me...

I just looked up real quick in the web nutrition data base: pumpkin sugars: 2 grams per cup; sweet potato sugars: 13 grams per cup.
PS White rice and the liquid that you overcook it in both have binding qualities, BTW. So if the dog doesn't eat the rice, squeeze it out and at least give the water.
I forgot I have a jar of organic baby food squash stashed for lizard, the ingredients are squash, rice flour and water.
I think the whole jar is probably a couple of tablespoons. But I don't want to give her anything else for a while since she we had runs after the rice.
I think I will skip her prednisone and antihistamines tonight too.
She isn't itchy right now so I think the less for her system to deal with the better.

So, you guys, is the 'protocol' for diarrhea that is that watery, to just give it a couple days as long as the dog is acting fine - drinking, active, etc? I know it is normal for the poop to get loose sometimes and what you do for that, but just wondering if this is the same (in case it happens to us on the weekend sometime!)
