Each state has different requirements. If you sign up with a private school (umbrella school) you can get around the "homeschool" requirements the public school tends to try to force down you, and your child will get a real diploma. HomeLife Academy is who we signed up with. They do not offer curriculum, but you can google homeschool curriculum and you'll get thousands of hits. You can get all-in-one programs, fairly expensive, or put together your own.
I can also provide you with the e-mail addy of a hsing family in TN with one child 16 and two more following close behind. My brother's kids. Mine are all younger.
We homeschooled but in the opposite way.....all the way up til 9th grade and then my oldest finished on his own...no GED or anything ,but worked for a year then went on a mission for our church (we are LDS). Which is where he is now.
Second and third children opted to go public at 9th grade. Tris for the RIT college credit engineering classes and to run Cross Country etc. The last so she could do math....which she did NOT have the self discipline to get through and knew she needed the strong arming of public school. She is also very into art and music which is nice and cheaper from PS.
I understood as was said that the military likes to see a graduation but will go with college credits to jump start them.
