Did you order the two paperbacks LB carries on raw feeding, by Schultze and MacDonald?
yes!! m very excited to get them.
going to a meats supplier tomorrow to cut a deal for chicken necks and meats!
Karly's 3.5kgs heavier since 10 days ago! things are looking up!
fed raw for the 1st time ever today! 1pound chx necks. i got a bit scared felt he was gulping them down ... :S
i ve been hearing that comment over and over again:
"y not cook the meat just a bit to eliminate bacteria?"
From whom?
my vet, some dog owners in this region ... they dont trust the meat here :S they dont want to take the risk...
vet s insisting that i simply boil the meat or feed kibble..
update!
things have been going great with chix necks and backs + chicken breast. actually i ve never been that happy and surprised about stool!! like 10% of what he s been doing before!! chalk color! CRAAAZY!!
i ve just added the meat a couple of days ago and i got half solid and half pudding stool. does this mean i should continue with the meat and add probiotics till stool gets firm again?
what about getting pieces of bone in the stool? is that normal?
Congrats on making good progress!!! Yep, once you start feeding RAW the poop becomes a great topic of conversation, but in a good way this time!
I know Connie or Michael will pop in on the question, but I'm going to take a stab at it and see if I'm anywhere near close to correct. I would lean more toward the chicken backs instead of breasts due to the meat/bone ratio. The extra meat on the breasts might be a reason for the pudding poo (were you skinning the breasts?). And I think it is fine to continue with the probiotics.
It really is great to hear your pup is making progress!!!
i think it s with the red beef meat that stool s pudding. m not gonna up the necks intake though.
he s having 3 meals/day:
1. 400grms chix necks/backs
2. 100g backs - 200g ground beef
3. 100g backs - 200g ground beef
have added the salmon oil, vit E and vit C as well... (2x a day)

Hi Michel,
Aren't you going too fast again? I thought your dog should be on plain skinned chicken parts for days and days until his gut calmed and everything was perfect. You're already adding supplements and ground red meat?
I'm NOT a raw feeder, so I read every post about it to glean information as I want to learn how to do it correctly.
no he was doing fine. firm stools for at least 7days on kibble... i started raw 4days though and all was fine. that s y i started adding ... should i revert back to chicken parts for some more time?

First, how much vitamin C are you giving?
I would hold off on it until later. It's really not important to supplement it all the time anyway.
