I love this thread. :-)
Rain: Down means down and stay down in ONE spot. How about a friendly hello without mouthing someone's hand?
Booker: Sing on command, directed retrieve and delivery.
Willow : My fingers are not a snack item. Starting upland birds.
Misty: Slow down and start thinking through commands instead of seeing how quickly we can cycle through tricks.
Bodie: Let's see when we can get through the night again without crate soiling.
Princess: Retired... doing what retired dogs do.
I’d like nothing more than to get a BH on Vincent so desensitizing is a constant. It’s a matter of rewiring the hardwired and sucking out those ghosts so… it could be a couple of years yet. Perhaps his senior years might be a good deadline for this goal. His obedience and agility are incredible - he’s a great demo dog – but still reactive when children are near (which we manage with zero contact). I don’t think kids will ever be in his future – which is fine and is what it is.
The young one is coming along nicely – low drives, slow and methodical. We’re working on upping the enthusiasm with lots of fun engagement and figuring out things that amp him up.
The husky is depressed. His best buddy is gone and the Lysodren is taking its toll. We’re working on him staying awake for more than 3 hrs at a time.
Other than that, summer is coming – looking forward to fun on the beach. Gonna try and train some of this stuff so I can just sit back and enjoy a good book or two:
Hmmmm...Falcon a more rock solid recall and to LEAVE THE CAT ALONE. Getting there; he's good if he's down but if he is up on all fours, maybe not so much. Sadie, don't lick my upper arm when I'm sitting down please.
We are starting CGC prep classes on the 28th. Until then I'm trying to teach him that geese are evil and should be chased off our property with a vengence. They come out of the river and poop all over our docks, lawn, and everything in sight. Hate geese. Want him to hate them too. Enough to get himself a free meal!
Outside, we're currently working on heeling in reverse (essentially, heeling while backing up instead of going forward - we're still using physical barriers to develop muscle memory because his bum swings all over the place otherwise :grin and a sit in motion, which I'd love to turn into a down in motion once he's good on the sit. Inside, we're working on retrieve (with hopes that we can turn it into a fun routine of picking up all his toys and putting them in a basket or something).
And I just want to add - CJ, that youtube clip in your signature just made my day!! (and not only because it has an RR in it ) Thanks for posting that.
What I REALLY should be working on is months-long, slooooow desensitization to the Dremel. I confess that I take Ripley to have his nails done at the vet once a month as I just don't want to fight him about it. When clippers or sanders come out he panics, I panic, it's just ugly.
