They say as far as physical activity, keep doing what you are used to. I skied when I was more than 6 months pregnant, couldn't fit into my ski pants (had to wear an old pair of my husband's with suspenders - ski pants not readily available in maternity stores...). Do not take up bowling if you don't do it already.
I cooked chicken plenty when pregnant (therefore handled it raw). Just wash everything!!
Just pamper yourself! Don't miss out on that: you are expecting! (when you are on to the 2nd child - you are just plain pregnant)
Congrats!

Congratulations!!
I did what I could as long as I could. I am a pregnancy whimp...something about low blood pressure, low blood sugar (never had gestational diabetes...) and exhaustion.
Hopefully you will have a good and healthy pregnancy!
Too bad about the litter box and BF....My dh started cleaning it when I was pregnant in 1988 and he still does it and my last pregnancy was 1995. I haven't said anything.

Congratulations..I did everything, ate anything, and cleaned litter boxes with all three of mine...pregnancy seems to have become a liitle more fragile over the years. Enjoy this time, and your sleep!

Best advice I ever got was from my cousin who gave birth a month before I did with Adam... "Do NOT get out of your bathrobe... As long as you are in your bathrobe, you will get helped and pampered a little bit. Get dressed, and sweetie you are back on your own." She was RIGHT. Don't wash the robe either... look real pathetic and exhausted as long as possible.

hahaha, im not really concerned about the litter, i mean, i dont enjoy it, and would LOVE to be able to use this as an excuse to not change it, but it won't fly here.
i plan on working the dogs until i feel like a can't, but i wanted some more opinions, i mean, its not easy on the body, i've posted some that just killed me.
i AM bummed that this puts a kink in my plan to learn to decoy some, that is just, for me, too much impact for me to feel comfortable.
im glad the raw isn't an issue, and thats what i suspected, but again, figured i would ask.

Check into that one a bit more - just to be safe. I know there used to be a legitimate concern about being pregnant and handling cat litter/waste, or maybe it was bogus, but... JUST to be sure.

Just be careful with the cat litter. Wear gloves and wash, wash, wash your hands after. You should wear gardening gloves, too, outside if you garden since the toxoplasmosis lives in the soil as well and cat's spread the joy beyond the litter box....
You may have already been exposed and immune, anyway. Talk to your doc.
Have fun and enjoy!

i have had these cats for YEARS, and have literally had cats in the house since i was born, but i will def be bringing it up with my midwife. i don't want to be paraniod, but i dont' want to be unsafe or careless either.
any more dog/pregnant lady advice?
i have heard mixed views on whether dogs recognize/care is their master is pregnant, and if they behave differently. not something that concerns me, but i do find it interesting.
any thoughts on that??

I would imagine it would be extremely likely that they could react/sense the mood/hormonal swings. You are going to be thinking and acting differently and they will likely pick up on that, but I never noticed ANY difference in my dog's behavior toward me. Now my husband, poor boy, THAT was a different story...

I was visiting at my brother's place when I was pregnant with my second child. Their male Beagle was playing tug/rough housing with everyone else while we all sat in a circle on the floor. He would not play when I had the toy, but he was never rude or shy. We came to the conclusion that he wouldn't rough house with pregnant people.
The biggest problem I had with physical activity while pregnant was my funky center of gravity. One time I managed to throw myself on my belly when I overextended my arm/torso. Riding my horse in the later stages was just too nerve wracking with a changed center, not to mention baby pushing in all the wrong spots.
Eight months of severe nausea/starvation during my second pregnancy really played havock with my energy and mental acuity.
I still can't tolerate foamy toothpaste in my mouth, ham, or fried eggs, 7 years later.
I had a traditional hospital birth with the first one, no fun and very painful. The second one I had at a birthing clinic and I did a water birth. It was very much better for me (not as painful) and the baby (no crying).
