Spencer - I think his DVDs are great and you will definately be able to get more out of his seminars when it becomes economically feasible to do so because you have watched them. Good luck with your pup - he is sure cute!
I agree! I'm very excited for the next puppy I raise! His training is fantastic and he will be in the budget by that point. What made you decide to train Aussie Cattle dogs? You sure don't see those very often in Arizona!

Big fat ditto. I am re-watching the food one this week.
For example, the luring part had several points that were new to me and that I want to watch again.

I am just started the second tug DVD this morning. Already watched the marker training and food DVD and I have to tell you, this is absolutely worth the money (I live half way around the world and the set cost me nearly half of my monthly income but no regrets here). Sometimes I just have to pause it to go work my dogs because I just can´t resist trying stuff out And constantly trying to figure out where to get the money for the heeling DVD (must make my dogs win in the shows this summer and I can sell the prizes- anyone figured out how to train dogs to place in BIS or do I have to mark the judge every time he looks our way? DD ). I dream of coming to the US to train with him in person one day.
Will, can you ship one of those shirts my way when you get them done
I haven't bought any of the Micheal Ellis DVD's yet, but I plan to get all three when I come back from Florida next month. Writers aren't a wealthy lot either (at least until sell my first best-selling novel) and my 15 year old car has needed an inordinate amount of financial attention lately.
All the feedback is good; I can feel totally justified in spending the cash. My friends go shopping; I buy DVD's and hang with the dog I know the info is great because I've gotten so much just from the free streaming video. I know what it's like to wait for the UPS truck. It feels like forever but the shipping is actually pretty darned fast from Leerburg. Can't wait to see the DVD's.
Question: Are Micheal's seminars appropriate for folks who aren't involved in the protection sports?

Absolutely! Depending on what I am working on with my crew, I sometimes just do obedience at his seminars. I am doing that this year and am actually bringing ring gating and the AKC jumps to set up at the seminar field ;-) I know of at least one other person attending this year that only does AKC stuff and there were a couple last year like that.

I've tried to attend the last 2 that happened in the Boston area (timing just didn't work out for me) because I have a hunch they'd be instructive for anyone with an interest in dog training - at any level. For me, I feel like auditing a class might be best (though I'm sure he could give me some pointers for my big, lazy, hound :grin - if he comes back this fall I'm really gonna try to swing at least one day...
And I totally hear you on the allocation of funds - I get picked on constantly by friends because my coffee table has stacks of WDJ, the Bark and an RR breed mag instead of Cosmo or Newsweek. I'm currently trying to figure out who gets new bedding first - the people of the house desperately need a new blanket and comforter for our bed, but Oscar's beds are all 4 years old and looking rather ragged and flat... but the boyfriend has no reason to know I'm torn on this.

Can't remember what the focus of the clip is, but I definitely remember seeing a little snippet of a session at Leerburg where Michael works with a woman who has a young Ibizan Hound that she's trying to teach ring manners... definitely not anything to do with protection sports.
