Sport work I would imagine that it depends on the handler and the dog, and the level of involvement with the sport.
I don't like people messing with my dogs...get your own dog....kinda like the potato chip bag says.
That has to be tailored to your personal situation. If you have to deal with NarcoTerrorists, GangBangers or Mormons then yea I would have a do not pet, suspicious, limb ripping dog. My situation is different, I have a family pet companion dog that tolerates petting and casual contact but will light up if someone is dumb enough to do something stupid. The deterrence value is probably all I'll and many others will ever need.
