Maybe I will see a Butterfly in my yard the size of a poodle in a week or so.
I swear I am not making this up: One night about 15 years ago I saw a butterfly/moth/something like that on the outside of the kitchen window (near the porch light) that was pale green and (this is the part I swear is not made up) the size of a bird. I mean a REAL bird - not a house canary or something. Like a robin, except not fat in the middle.
Before Bob was so rudely interrupted, he/she was TRYING to spin a cocoon in order to turn into a beautiful butterfly who will bear no resemblance to his/her rather bizzaar "adolescent" phase.

Okeydokee now... Sure it was. Maybe a Sea Cucumber trying to evolve into a Land Cucumber? Or perhaps some of that weird, wacky wild stuff you Californian's are so famous for smokin'?
Okay, now I'm off to find out what THAT could have been!
Could what connie have seen be a gypsy moth? Those things are huge and exteremly pretty! jmo I had a few when I was a little girl in jars now I don't like bugs. go figure!

There are some pretty big guys (and cool looking ones too) on this site... I have seen tomatoe horn catepillars on my 'maters a good 3" long and as thick as my pinkie... chickens love 'em!

Sounds like a luna moth, we get them here sometimes and they are HUGE!
ETA: nevermind! I should have read the whole thread further before posting!
