I look at the weight and condition of the dog, whether or not they vomit bile if they go too long without food, bloat risk, and if they are happily eating all of their food when you give it to them etc.
I feed a very small meal in the morning, then they get the big meal of the day at night, after we eat.
They usually get afternoon snacks while we do some kind of training too.
Nico will vomit bile if I feed strictly once a day, but she does ok as long as she gets a small amount.
Loki would eat anything I gave him, even if he had just eaten, he seems to be missing the full sensation!!
With the raw, it comes out of the fridge and it is a bit cold, but usually I give them about 15 to 20 minutes and then if they don't eat by then I take it up and put it away.
I have tried everything from letting the food warm up to more room temp, to warming the raw RMB's in warm water first....
But with the heat we are having, I just give it to them cold and so far they are eating it.
Tonight he laid on the kitchen floor looking at it and took a nudge from me twice and finally he went over to eat.
I really think it is the heat, that and the times for exercise are so far apart. Early early morning and when it gets dark out.
I have even thought about feeding later at night, but it seems like that would screw up the time for the morning meal.
We didn't have problems in the winter. I am convinced that the heat and crazy schedule for exercise is the problem here.
