We tried everything (except that oral stuff) and our lawn was a mess - yet, like Randy said, not enough of a mess! We had to eventually get it all dug up and start over. Then we made a 'potty' spot on the side of the house with gravel. Now we have a really nice lawn and a smelly potty area. We're still trying to figure out how to deal with the smell. It's all a pain!
Ryan,
I don't fertilize my back yard where the dog can pee where ever she wants. The grass is healthy and the spots do "move" around (er, fill back in) but it is something you deal with when you have a dog. The lawn doesn't die and if watered enough it actually is greener because the nitrogen is a fertilizer (it's just coming in too concentrated of a form)
There are "pills" you can purchase at the petstore which we've used in the past, and which do work well. However, I swear since we've switched to RAW the pH of the pee has been changed because we simply don't have anywhere near the number of "yellow" spots as we used to get. I have no idea if that is why, but there is definitely less yellow in my lawn!
Jeez,
You mean there's actually people who feed the lawn?
Like in, trying to make it grow!!!????
Get ye to an analyst quickly.
Or feed the dirt and let the microbes do the rest.
Grass: a mix of drought resistant bluegrass. The organic regimen is basically: let the dog pee where it wants to and water so as not to stress the lawn. Deep, but infrequent watering for a good root system - never at night. Aeration in the spring, sometimes the fall, because a big dog can cause quite a bit of compaction. Don't mow it too short.
My lawn looks better than a neighbor's who has a bunch of boys playing ball all the time...
