I'm just a vet-tech and I've got IV's/Fluids both at home, and at the barn! Ya just never know when you may need fluids.
Betty- I wish you and your old gal the best! Hope you both get a good sleep tonight, and her mucus membranes are a better color in the morning.

Scary stuff, Betty. Glad to hear your little iglet is going to pull out.
Ours LOVES heat - he'll go out in 110 degrees and lay on the concrete or gravel. Comes in smelling like a sweaty little kid.

She's fine this am. "Ours loves heat....will go out in 110 degrees and lay on the gravel"
Ours loves heat too. Yesterday I was cleaning the milk house about 30 ft from the pickup, if she had been whining or calling I'd have heard it. I think she was just baking in there, actually enjoying it until it suddenly got WAY too hot.
Our IG came as a pup to Minnesota in December . Only knew snow and cold. In March my husband had a medical meeting in Florida. At 5 mos old she had never seen warm weather. We went out on the sand at South Beach -it was so hot I couldn't walk on it in bare feet - she laid in the sun by my beach chair all day. Not under the chair, in the sun on the broiling sand. She really looked like a desert animal that day.

"IV Fluids at home.."
Until they take my license away (I'm WAY behind on my continuing education!) I have quite a bit of emergency type stuff at home, though most is cattle related.
On that note, wish I knew people (who do vaccinate their pets) who lived nearby as I have about 20 doses of Rabies and 20 doses of DHLP-Parvo that's going to expire in October. It galls me to pay my old clinic $20/shot (the Pinker needed 3 pup shots +Rabies) so I ended up buying 50 doses of each last fall and I only have so many local friends to give it to. Will probably donate it to the local pound. This is problematic however as the local vet makes dough vaccinating rescues.... So, if you need a "shot" and you are nearby and lurking on this forum, PM me.

Yep - that's an iggie for you. Probably dreaming about being back in the middle east where the breed originated. Amazing.
How does she do in the winter in terms of going outside? We traveled to Nebraska one October, and it was hilarious watching our guy walk on his tippy toes in the snow. He does the same thing here when it rains in the winter. Of course, that's when the poddy habits start to go downhill...but he's so darn cute it's hard to stay mad at him even when I'm mopping the lake he pee'd in the hallway.
SO glad to hear your girl is fine!

Rain- my girl does not "do" rain at all. Over 13 years she has destroyed almost all our carpet. A sneaky pee here and there..
Regarding winter, she's clothed, sweater and parka. Hates cold, but until a year or two ago, she liked cow chores every day, sitting in a sunny place in the barn or staying in the heated Bobcat- In summer, she's out all day, a real farm dog. She taught the Pinker about mice in the mowed hay.
2 yrs ago she decided Minnesota winter sucked and she wasn't going out anymore except to pee. So, I started searching for a little chore dog - got the Pinker last fall.
I've enjoyed my iglet, glad to have known her. In her prime she could run 35 MPH behind the kids on the 4-wheeler.
I am super lucky I still own her today, the heat deal last night was close.

It is a sight to behold to watch one of these guys run, isn't it?
Our is mostly blind - PRA - but he walks 2 miles every morning with me, and looks as buff as when he was a teenager.
He would LOVE being a farmdog. For ours, it's the cicada's. Caught a flying one the other night! I think he's turning into a bat.
Take care.

Betty, I'm so sorry to read this, but SO relieved you discovered the old girl before it was too late... I think of IGs as such frail little things... I'm glad yours appears to be one tough cookie!
On a side not, for the IG lovers here, did you ever visit this website?:
http://www.lovecharlie.org
For 4 1/2 years it was a daily photo journal of a little IG named Charlie - his owners ended things in 2008, but the site is still up (you can look back through monthly archives), and still adorable. They even photo documented a move from Minnesota to England at one point...

If it's warm, an IG is incredibly tough. Mine used to follow the tractor all day, up and down the rows, when she got tired she would sit on the seat with me, cared nothing about the screaming machines behind it. She has run down squirrels, coming to the house with a piece of their tail. Her son killed 35 fat broilers before I figured it out, I could not believe he was the predator. He was a pretty good cow dog too.
So glad that she's fine today. I'm resigned to the fact that her time is short at 13 (I don't think they live long like a fox terrier) but I didn't want her to die YESTERDAY.
Natalya, thanks for that link--looks exactly like my dog! When I'm less busy I'll enjoy lots of that!
