Just looking on line at different types of dogs and came across this web page talking about force free training. I tried to get info from their page but not much provided.
Just curious, what is force free training? Anyone heard of it and what is it really?
Thanks sharon

I've heard about the force free training, it is supposedly based purely on reward system. From what I've read a leash correction is considered forced training, collar, crate, NILF, etc are using methods of forcing a behavior. Basically using any item that denyies them 'freedom of choice', including planned breedings is frowned on.
I really don't see how the method could be used with most dogs and have them not be out of control monsters. I am all for positive, fun training.
On a couple of videos on the site, he mentions that the dog has a "vibrating collar" on. She is also on a long line. It doesn't show much, just a bit of recall training with food.
thanks guys, I thought it sounded kinda hoky.It is interesting how this type of philosophy has been transfered from child rearing to dog rearing and training. Look what that has done to child rearing, don't see it working much for dogs either.
Thanks for the input
Sharon
Oh gosh my son would be a train wreck without boundaries, limits and fair consequences. Don't get me wrong he has plenty of kid time, and my dogs have plenty of Dog time. But there are rules and by gosh when I say something I mean it!!
This sort of philosophy seems like a recipe for those dogs who are not true alphas (or term of choie) who have no real pack leader so they try to fill the role and end up nervous wrecks.
