oooo I hear you on this one.....I decided to do out "long" walk of the day midday yesterday rather than at dusk.....AUUUUUGH, we couldn't even get onto the main road before we were jumped on by "HE'S FRIENDLY" chihuahuas (btw, they were NOT friendly...by any stretch)
I'd rather have the coyotes, they're adorable and even this years litter who are out with mom learning to hunt are more respectful. Plus, there's something adorable about a gangly coyote yearling tripping on his face trying to get a rabbit.
Bare Cove looks like a great place! They must really 'push' the dog friendly atmosphere as there was even a photo of the dog waste sign (haha). I'm with you about taking my chances with the coyotes vs uncontrollable *friendly* dog especially on a beautiful weekend.
Which are known I believe, to drive the fisherman crazy when they are breeding/nesting (at least on the Outer Banks of NC) and have never been known to attack a dog!! LOL! Plus, they are such cute little buggers.
We have coyotes, but jackrabbits are a bigger problem here. They take Sutter from zero to pure prey drive in about .25 seconds. If I lived out of town, I know the coyotes would be a bigger problem.
By saying we have piping plovers I meant, the beach gets closed and nobody is allowed to go there. I was replying to that BEAUTIFUL park! Things are pretty restrictive here. Difficult to find open areas where you can go with your dog.
Ah. We have lots of open space, but most of it belongs to ranchers. I could take him into the mountains, but they are quite a drive away--it's hard to fit in while I have little ones at home.
We have five acres of woods and we were hit by those darn coyotes. A pack of what we are guessing 8. They destroyed our chicken coop, 14 chickens dead. All my roosters gone. That really sucked. I stayed in the rest of that week because the neighbors were all out shooting! I wonder if any of them considered the other neighbor through the trees?

Yep, which is EXACTLY what drives the fishermen (and women) crazy on the Outer Banks. Large areas of the beach normally open to 4 wheel vehicles gets closed off...

Don't you mean "jackalopes? *Wink* I can't even imagine my little terrier's reactions if she saw WY creatures. She already goes into high prey drive over birds and cats.
