Being that you are in a wheelchair(you did not say how long you will need remain in a wheelchair), unless someone else in your home is willing and able to deal with this situation you should find a home for one of these dogs and stick with having one dog. It is inevitable that a strong physical(and mobile for that matter) presence will be needed to fix this problem(issuing corrections). Otherwise I fear the end of this story.
Richard Cannon States that if your Dobe has any domanance issues, you will have fire and oil with the JRT. I have had terriers over the past 25 yrs and the JRTs, without a doubt, think they are the biggest, baddest, meanest, little piss ants that walk. Whe my daughter comes over with her Rot, we put up my JRT if we can't watch them. My JRT tries his best to bully the Rot and the only thing that keeps him out of the snack catagory is the Rot's great temperment. I feel that if you cant constantly control both dogs, they must be kept seperate. If The dobe is otherwise well socialized to dogs, bringing in a new puppy when the time comes, will not be a problem if done correctly.
I have let it be known how serious the situation is to the others here and what steps are needed to keep the JRT safe. Thank you all for your advice, it really is appreciated even if it's not what one wants to hear.
