This was the FIRST pair you ever knitted???? OMG!!! I'm a fairly crafty/handy person but I can't imagine knitting like that right out of the starting gate! Very nice.
I wish all you knitters lived closer so I could learn from the pros!
Well Barbara, they weren't perfect... they were too small! And as a result, my mom ended up as the lucky recipient. I used to live in Metchosin, BC, which is MAJOR sheep country (and the sheepdog trial capitol of NA I believe). My old landlord was a very talent spinner, knitter and textile artist. She taught me to knit socks, and gave me her leftovers to start with - they're called "frankensocks", because they are the scraps from all the other socks you knit. I love doing them, but only get to do a pair every 12 pairs or so...
Thanks! I love knitting socks because you can complete tue project pretty quickly, and have tons of fun with colour. I actually used to be very anti-sock! Now I don't wear any socks I didn't knit myself.

Wow, I didn't think anyone knitted socks anymore. That's great.
My aunt used to knit all my uncles wool argile socks from when they were first married. He was a golf pro & especially liked wearing them while hitting the links, he wore them daily year-round. Even when they moved full time to Florida! He always said the wool kept him cool in the summer (because they breathed) & warm in the winter.
