It is absolutely urine and sometimes leaves trails. I also seen it with my own eyes.
He was originally brought to the vet for red blotches on his neck from what I thought was his collar irritating him and a small lump on the side of his neck. They said the urine culture was normal as well as his bloodwork, but the lump is a Mast cell tumor which needs to be removed.
They said there is no connection between the two. Not sure exactly what the blood tests were for. I will talk to them about the TBF as well as what Aaron said about the testerone deficiency.
He doesnt "leak" immediatly after he goes out to pee so I let him out every 20 minutes so I dont have to clean up after him all day. He seems to have a full pee each tiome I let him out like there is no limit to what he has in his bladder.
I leave water around the clock but he doesn't drink excessively. All this started recently. He also excited pees occassionally mostly when my wife comes home after being out for a while.
And by 'clean catch' Aaron means cystocentesis, or urinary catheter.
I agree with Aaron, you should ask your vet about diabetes as well as Testosterone/prostate issues.
Alec, I just want to applaud you for being a proactive pet owner, and noticing something on your dog, and taking action to fix it. (Blood work, urine, an aspirate of the bump, etc) Too many people just let it slide.

Edit reason: not done :)
Thank you Kelly & Aaron. The relationship I have with this dog is something special. I actually have 2 dogs and I'm very close with both but there is a connection with Jeter that is unique.
My family says I favor him but the truth is each dog gets what they need and he needs a little more. Just like children. I have 3 of those as well and they each have their own personalities and needs. So everyone gets what they need.
I am going to talk to the vet about Aaron's suggestions as well. Here is what has been done so far...
I am doing a wait and see with this lump. They told me it needs to be removed and its malignant but it seems to be getting smaller. He has had it for a few months so if it is real trouble and doesn't continue to get smaller I will have it removed next week and then pray he doesn't get any more.
The lump wasn't even why I brought him to the vet in the first place. It was a rash under his next and upper chest. because he is a Pit/Boxer mix the skin under his white coat on his neck, belly and chest is very pink. So I thought he had a rash and was scratching at it and I was concerned.
I never anticipated he might have Cancer. So not the rash is not important and I am focused on this lump and the urinating issue.

The SuperChem/ CBC should cover most of your bases for bloodwork. Were all values normal? You might ask about doing a urine culture in broth, with urine obtained by cyctocentesis. (needle through the abdomen, into the bladder. It's not as terrible as it sounds) It's generally more sterile then a cath.
I'm getting the lump removed. The vet wants to wait just a little longer on that to see if we can nip the urinating issue in the bud first. I wont let it go beyond another week or so.
he is on both Hydroxyzine/Atarax 75 mg twice daily and Baytril 136mg 1 & one quarter pills per day.
The involuntary urinating might actually be subsiding a little. Not really sure yet. I am going to monitor him closely for the next few days and see.
I looked up these meds and they are an antibiotic for urinary issues and skin rashes (which was the reason I brought him in the first place) and the other is an antihistamine.
I thought this would a simple thing and having them check the lump was really an after thought. Good thing I had them check it.
