I am a vision therapist/teacher...work mostly with kids who have learning disabilities/autism/etc and adults with brain injuries. I do like my job and I must be pretty good at it since the kids and their parents keep coming. The thing I like best about my job is that I really do make a difference in their lives. I also train other optometrists and their staff to do what I do. Once I finish my masters in August, I hope to teach some college too. However, I have to admit if I could I would love to stay home and train my dogs all day.

Creative Director for an event marketing company. Hate it. I want to be a farmer. But the salary allows me to pay for my real passions-- my dogs and travel.

I am an event coordinator/catering manager along with doing everything else that needs to be done at any given time. Frankly I could make more money tending bar or going back to waiting tables at the right place. But the hours are perfect, my boss is super flexible and I have a lot of freedom to do the job as I see fit.
I don't love it however, if I was planning weddings and special events more often and doing less corporate lunch catering it would be different.
I want to go back to school, but am still stuck not knowing what I want to go back for, or what I really want to be when I grow up that actually would bring in a paycheck.

I am kind of struggling because I am in my internship for ultrasound, and I honestly don't really like it. I should have pursued something with animals. That's my passion.
Kristi, my cousin works for an independant diagnostics lab, and she often does ultrasounds on animals. She uses my animals as practice, but she's done ultrasounds on just about any animal there is. Is there any way you can get into that kind of thing as well? Jo says she absolutley LOVES it when she gets to do a vet call.
Just a thought

How do I do multiple quotes in one reply??
I have asked a couple people about doing veterinary ultrasounds...and I just found out my school is starting an animal ultrasound program sometime this year. $35,000 too late. UGH! I wish they had that when I first came. I have thought about talking to vets in my area to see if that is an option. =)

I was at a young age a firefighter/paramedic, an injury stopped that that then I went to surgical technology school, but never really worked at it because I started doing animal control, but I always loved medicine, went to nursing school got my BSN, and am now headed to nurse practioner school, I'd love to go to medical school but I think at this point I'm too old. My REAL passion is horses, I managed many a barn but unless you have money to start with... I always say I went to nursing school so I could afford more horses. JMHO if you don't like it during your internship when everything is new and fresh, chances are you won't like it when you are working at it or real.
I think the problem is that I am still at my school, technically doing internship in their clinic. But really all I am doing is finishing up my senior projects (scanning other students) and waiting to get placed in my actual internship site. So its boring, and there is no pathology. I am hoping when I am out in the field and actually working with patients I will enjoy it more.
I am glad I started this thread! It is really interesting to see what everyone does outside of our pups! =)

I'm now an office manager for a wholesale nursery (plants, not babies!), and I have worked in the nursery industry in various jobs, for 15 years total.
In the middle of those years I was a SCUBA instructor, and lived for a short time in Egypt and then Honduras, on the island of Roatan, teaching SCUBA diving.
However, I'm ready to make a change at the ripe old age of 49, and I'm seriously thinking of going back to school to become a physical therapist assistant.
I enjoy the plant industry but the business is just not what it was a few years ago...

Landscape Designer. I love most of it; being outside when the weather is nice, meeting lots of new people, the creative part, helping people make their house their home.
Hate working outside in the summer (hate the heat in general).
