Yes, Spaniels are one of the top three or four yeast-vulnerable breeds.

Springers, American Cockers, Westies, Labs, GSDs, Bassetts, Maltese -- I think these are pretty much the order of the top Malassezia -prone breeds. Of course, they are not alone!

All cockers to an extent have a bit of an oil to their coat much in the same way a lab does. If it gets to the point where its a grease that you can feel on your hands it's very likely that you're dealing with a corn dog (crap diet), a dog with an immune/hormone disorder (which they are very known for), or some kind of dermatitis.
I personally wonder if a big part of the issue with cockers is how we groom them in the pet trade. They spend most of their lives getting shaved at least half naked and most pet dogs getting full body clips. I'm thinking for my next american cocker (if I get one) I'll try hand stripping and see if I notice a big difference.
