I'd be calling 911 again if I did not have a live response to this.
I'd find out how to get that landlord's address asap.
I'd never let the ball drop on this, for my own safety and for the school across the street.
I'd probably be over at that school's principal's office to describe what happened, too, followed up in writing (certified). I'd want that school admin with me.
I'd start written records now.

Glad you're safe, Jennifer.
Google property search and your county auditor. You should get a search engine that will allow you to type in the property address. This should lead you to the owner's name and address.

I just talked to my husband who said they have cops en route to the store to pick someone up, and it is a pair that he is friends with.
He is going to bring it up and see if he can get a better response. I am also going to print out a police report form and march it into animal control tomorrow if I don't get someone out here soon.
Loki is asking for his afternoon walk, but I am not even going to risk taking him to the car to drive him somewhere else to walk right now. I'm thinking it will be a frozen kong kind of afternoon.
I am also going to have him help me take pictures of the bruise, I don't intend on causing a stink about it, but I think it needs to be recorded as information pertaining to the situation.
I also got in my car, backed out of my driveway and around the corner, then left it running with the door open while I knocked on the neighbors door to let them know what happened. They have 4 small children, two of which walk home directly in front of this house with Tyler nearly everyday.

Good grief Jennifer, my heart is pounding for you from just reading about that dog!! I'm very glad you are okay, aside from the nasty bruise.
If someone does not show up, call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. With this level of aggression and young children in the neighborhood walking home from school, I'd be perfectly happy making a big stink.
Manager of Animal Control... Chief of Police. Then the City Manager - I'm serious. Be a bloody nuisance until you get someone face to face who sees this dog.
And as Connie said, document everything. Have your camera by the front door incase you see him out of the fence again.

So did I do the right thing by initially standing my ground and telling him no?
This has never not worked for me before, but I have also never dealt with this level of flat out macho aggression.

You better post that online Jennifer. The swelling may go down before animal control shows up.

I can't add anything more in the way of advice, but just want to say, Jennifer, thank goodness you are all right. That must have been horribly frightening. I agree, document everything with notes and photos, then keep at the authorities until you see something done.
I'm just fuming at the owners of this dog. Those are the type of people directly responsible for all the BSL cropping up.
