pee pads are scented, try using them out side for a day or so if you can, and remove them as she is comforatable going outside, I had a similar problem with my first pups
Shivering like in fear, or like shes cold. I know some dogs do tend to shake, but this is now everytime I start to take her out.
Are you familiar with marker training? There is a free ebook on this site which will get you going. It is a great way to train a dog, non-confrontational, non-threatening, etc...
If you take her out of the crate and don't put the leash on, how is she?
Yea!! Success!! I took her on a long walk and she finally went. Now Im wondering if I should just do that instead of taking her for a seperate potty time where I was taking her before.
I think I would be worried about a tiny dog with the shakes who was not going to the bathroom. From what I understand they can dehydrate/ get hypoglycemic and start to go downhill pretty quickly.
I don't think Karo would hurt anything if the pup isn't eating or drinking.
Baited water is always a good thing, made using either low sodium natural broth or homemade by boiling meat in water and straining off the fat.
Are you feeding the same thing the previous owners were?
I would also read up and start with marker training, it is a great way to bond, earn trust, and get the ball rolling with your pup. It is also totally non confrontational which is perfect for a little pup who is stressed and unsure of their situation.
Until you get to know this little gal's normal cycle, just take her out often and WALK her a little bit; the movement really gets things moving. It is great to have a special place for them to go, but at least walk her to that area and around it.
