Yes ours is 220V / 50 Hz. I rigged up my own charger with a 12V car battery trickle charger and pins I bought at the indian equivalent of radio shack. It works really well.
Dennis, how you got so much more life out of it? I would like to know too.
Skillful application and judicious use? I really don't know.
Maybe that is the difference. Normally ours would not be plugged in unless it needed to be charged. I'm going to try it differently and see if that helps. Once I thought about it more, this particular collar is definitely LESS than two years old.

I got to buy some battrees for mine, Drago is a very independent pushy SOB and when he is old enough......
Hey Barbara, we also keep ours on charge all the time and are getting close to 3 years with one. We use them daily and they're off the charge, on their necks between 2 and 5 hours.
Haven’t had to use the stims in a while but the warning vibrate gets used a bit. Not sure if that makes a difference but even after some days of 5 – 7 hours, the light is always bright green when I take them off.
Never thought about the fact they had a battery that may need changing.
Thanks CJ - I'm definitely going to start this proceedure. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't realize they had a battery either until Doug mentioned it the other day. At first I said "No hon, they get recharged!" and he looked at me with that look which caused me to stop and say... "ohhhh.... its recharging a battery....."
