Just a weird observation a good vet made to me once. A lot of dogs start to 'go after' their front paws when they have an ear infection. Is she prone to ear problems? If she will allow you to, sniff her ears to see if they small bad - a great test for home checks on ears.
I would also be tempted to try the above mentioned herbal treatment or some ichthmol (sp?) ointment on her paw. Wrap it loosely to keep the ointment from getting everywhere. Ichtamol works very well on my dogs and horses (and a cat prone to abcesses). I have even used it one my daughter when she stepped barefoot on a cactus.
Best wishes, I hope she heals soon.
When she was younger she got a couple ear infections a year. I used zymox and it went away for good(knock on wood), and she hasn't had any infection now for maybe over 3 years - she's 7 now.
The vet today diagnosed her with an interdigital cyst, and gave me antibiotics of simplicef, but she also said that interdigital cysts are sometimes very slow healing and not that responsive sometimes to antibiotics. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this works as it looks worse today. She's had a cut on her paw before, but never this. Always something new....
