It's often a challenging texture.
You're right that cooked boneless chicken is not a balanced diet, but how much chance has he had with THK?
I mean, if he's been eating kibble and cooked chicken and likes the THK least so eats it least ... I don't know. I'd probably change the texture of the THK to a gravy over the cooked chicken and over the course of two-three days I'd move toward the appropriate ratio.
I'd probably also re-examine the intake issue. Maybe the dog is offered more food than actually needed? That would result in picking and choosing as well as perceived undereating .....
Just thinking out loud.
I do know that THK took the dogs a few days to become accustomed to, which is why I never recommend reserving it for travel and then relying on it (without the trial period).
Mine all love it, though, once that period is over. They drool while it's rehydrating.
I've been trying it since day 1, in various thicknesses.
He really doesn't eat much food at all. I would say about 1/2 cup of kibble and 1/2 cup of chicken a day, he weighs 16lbs! I generally mix THK over all of it, so that he has to eat it, but then he really doesn't like to eat it hardly at all.
If I hand feed him the chicken with some THK on it, he'll slowly eat it. I am hoping that perhaps the raw chicken will hold more interest and he will be more willing to eat it with THK mixed in.
*please note that the dog is totally healthy, with normal bm's and has been to the vet*

So it's more of a pup-not-eating issue than a THK issue?
I don't know what the 16 pounds means .... is that a good weight? It doesn't sound like enough food, but I don't know what the amount (kibble) is supposed to be ...
No, he doesn't have a huge appetite. But, he will happily eat the plain kibble, or plain chicken, but he doesn't eat much because it's mixed with THK I think. His weight is good, he's gained a pound this week I think, but it's definitely not enough food.
