Trying to coordinate this from across the country has proven to be VERY daunting. Without a rescue to work with me, I think it will be impossible.
So, I have a message to the SE coordinator for ABMC Mal Rescue. I am offering to pay the pull fees for her, and will contribute to vet care or boarding as necessary.
While I would love to have had this beautiful girl come live with me, I just really want her to be saved. I can't explain it, but my new Best Friend Betty Mathena summed it up well: sometimes a dog just calls to you.
That is what happened here. This dog, the dog I prefer to call Faith, called to me. I KNOW that this dog has a purpose, and will enrich someone's life for many years. I may not be that person, but I want to help her fulfill her destiny.
I want to thank all of you for your support, and not calling me a dumb ass for trying to do this. Or calling me a sentimental goober... though that's what I feel like sometimes.
I joked with Betty and said I should write a book about this... Maybe not a book, but a story at least. A story about Saving Faith...
Oh, Kelly, I hope this still works out for you. I know exactly what you mean about a particular dog calling to you. I'm sure you've thought of this, but have you exhausted all of the all-breed rescues in the Miami area that might help? What about a GSD rescue in the Miami area (I'm assuming there might be one since it's a more common breed than the Mal)? From my limited experience with Dobe rescue, I know a breed rescue sometimes helps a dog of another breed as a courtesy, if they have the resources to do so.
