I used to use Program, but recently switched to Comfortis, same as Tracy. Love it. Never had a problem with either Program or Comfortis's efficacy.
I occasionally bring home a flea or two from work. It's gross, and I hate it... but when you deal with 3 flea ridden dogs @ a groom shop, you're likely to end up with one on you, even if you kill all the fleas on the dog! Since comforts and program essentially sterilize the flea, they can't reproduce. Perfect.

I haven't seen any sign of fleas, and my dogs don't socialize much. I HATE fleas, so this was a preventative measure. I think, once we have finished with this batch of Advantage, I will try the pills. It is nice to hear how others tackle the challenge of getting the solution onto the dog's skin.
I hate fleas I am having trouble with them because I know learned that front line plus is useless over here in Georgia. I now have to go out and buy another fled med .It is so, frustrating my sister pup has a flea allergy and is suffering , I am going to try a tablet this time and hope for the best I can't afford to keep buying multiple types of meds for the pups.

I would not recommend the tablets for a dog with allergies, because the flea has to bite the dog for the tablet to work, and it's the bites that trigger the allergies. You could try another topical for the allergic dog, and the pills for the rest of them.
I was also having problems with Frontline, and switched to Advantix II, which is working great.

You also have to remember that Comfortis doesn't work for ticks, so if you have those in your area you have to use a topical.
My derma vet says that Frontline and Advantix work for about 3 weeks then start to diminish. She recommends putting on the topical, wait two weeks and then give a Comfortis, wait 2 weeks and put on the topical, etc. That way you are covered for everything all the time - she only suggests this during the months when the fleas are really a problem, not all year round.
She is very conservative with meds, very!, but dogs getting flea bites are the number one skin problem she sees, so sometimes you have to bring out the big guns or your dog pays the price with a cycle of flea bite then biting themselves and causing skin rashes that get infected and then they're on steroids and antibiotics!
