We are all thinking of you. If it is poison the dog will likely survive--not only that, in my experience they do learn to leave sick mice and rats alone, will kill them, torture them, but no longer consume them.
Hopefully today will be a better day.
nope, just some more treatment we pray will boost her up as the meds are given.
I just put a post in with what happened today. My Husband and I are very discouraged, first cody and now Terra. We were grateful to find out there was no trace of rodent poisoning in her blood. We fear Evans disease. The prognosis is not good if that is it. Very low success rate.
Thanks Connie. It is good to have my friends here standing with me.
We should know in about 4-5 days if this transfusion works or not. IF not we are...for her best interests ...have to put her down. She is only 3. she is the dog on the left in the picture of my pups here.
Love sharon
My dog Terra had a swollen ear flap yesterday, we took her to the vet and found out we have another serious problem. Her red blood cells are way, way, down. She had little (darn forgot what they are called)..oh petekia (not sure of spelling) pin prick size blood dots under her arms and on her ear flaps.
Mike: she is not throwing up and we take her out to potty and all looks good. But of course with her low red blood cells and her platelets low she is not as perky as she usually is. Her ear was not what we thought it was, she may have been stung by a bee. (she loves to chase and kill them and roll on them.) We are not sure. There is nothing to show us how she got where she is at. So, as I mentioned in my previous post she is having a blood transfusion. Her blood cells (red) were 24 yesterday with her med, that were to help her she is down to 17. We are not waiting for it to go further for the blood transfusion. She will have more meds and then we will test her blood in a week, then see how she is doing. It doesn't look good for her. We are so sad. She is our girl and a great little dog.
Our finances are strapped and we can't afford to have her go to the emergency vet. What they would do for her if this doesn't work has not been real effective. If she has evans the prognosis isn't good for her. So, all we want to do is to give her a chance and then protect her from undue suffering.
