I just had good results using Vetericyn Hot Spot spray with my foster.
This would be my 'go to' product of choice. My female had a lick granuloma that I treated with laser therapy that worked wonders.
Healed it up in a matter of a couple weeks. Something to think about Barbara if the creams or home treatment doesn't do the trick.
I went to three different places today looking for the Vetericyn spray - two of them were listed on the web as selling the product but neither had it in stock or knew it by name. I then went to the second big box pet store and alas, not their either so I bought a Hydrocortisone spray and one a natural, aloe / tea tree oil based product. So far neither of which seems to be giving any relief, but it is early yet.
The vet could not see us today so we have a Monday 3:30 appt. but I'd love to see it "calm down" before then.
Equine/Tack shop should carry it, if you can't find the Hot Spot Spray, the "Wound & Infection Treatment" is the same ingred., list, same thing. I have used their ear rinse & Ophthalmic Gel, and love it. First time with hot spot treatment, with good results. It kills Staph(MRSA} & other bacteria.
The "wound & infection treatment" is also Vetericyn.
Hey! Maybe Dream Catchers has some on hand - I'll check.
Go figure - I've just gone to work with a brand new Tractor Supply Company store but there isn't a shelf or product in the building as of yet; we will be stocking week after next. I'll bet this will be an item they carry.
Yup- the regular ol' Vetricyn spray will work just as well as the hot spot treatment- They only have 1 or 2 ingredients that are different.
Barbara- I've got some at work. If you can wait a few days, I can get it in the mail to you on Monday if you'd like. Let me know. It's fantastic stuff to have on hand. My boss even uses it on himself.... rofl.
I have used Veterycin on my cuts and scrapes too,
it really works. That same company makes the same stufff for
humans, under another name, but I think it's the same stuff.

Thanks Kelly! I'm calling places up in Richmond today and checking with the barn to see if I can get my hands on some quickly - if not, I'll take you up on your offer. Many thanks!
