Cinco is mostly very dark brown with fawn colored points on his face, and gray ticking on his chest and front legs. The ticking is the thing that makes me think there might be some heeler in him. The face markings are sorta dobe-like. But the body and head shape are pit, in a small package. Whatever he is, he's a very happy, vigorous boy and we love him even if he is a little funny-looking. You'll note the one ear up, one down. That's his normal.
The patchy areas are symetrical (more or less). Similar patches on both thighs, mid-trunk, base of tail and both sides of tail about halfway down. The hair in those areas is brittle, breaks easily, leaving diffuse patchy areas that aren't totally bald, but nearly so.
He was also tested for thyroid (another condition that can present with hair loss) but it was normal.
The other thing about color dilution alopecia is the skin. The skin is normal, no redness, no thickening, except some areas may "tan". Long standing demodex usually has thickened skin.
