wait, that dog in the picture is not the same one on the original link....or did I miss something?
It's not the same dog and not even the same story. The original link in the OP concerned a dog named Phoenix who was trained to be a service dog for a blind person, and the follow up link (posted by different forum member) is about a dog named Snickers trained to help his owner who is a retired police officer, disabled due to a stroke.
Sounds like the same type of circumstances, dog required to be given up due to BSL, but apparently there is a happy ending for Snickers and his owner. Now if we could just learn the rest of the story regarding Phoenix.
oh--my BAD. sorry everyone for going off. they are indeed 2 different dogs. now that i actually opened the OP's link (duh), while SC does have pretty nasty BSL, i wonder why this couple didn't do what the man in aurelia did....maybe they didn't know about the federal law, aand i can guarantee you that SC's AC didn't share that with them.
No problem! As of right now, they have moved Phoenix to foster care and have listed him as "unavailable" I am praying this means they are studying the ADA laws and working to get him back with his owners. More information such as he was one class away from graduating as a certified assistance dog were listed as well, so let's hope this means they are working to get him that last class and that will hold some leverage against Sioux City (as if they need more than Federal Law!)I'd like to think the new info is because they are in contact with the SO and are working with them.
