We had practically no snow all winter and mid/upper 80s for over 2 weeks back in MARCH (in Michigan).
Everything started growing/budding weeks early. Then came 2 or 3 killing frosts in April so the fruit here crops are pretty much non-existent this year.
It's supposed to be around 90 today. I'm happiest when it stays below 80.
As far as the dogs go, I'll continue to work/exercise them (carefully) up to around 90. They aclimate to it pretty well. I just watch them and give them plenty of opportunity to cool off.
My lot have taken to going into the small pools of water in the ditches, which is mostly mud to cool off, big boy actually lays out on the sun bed at home, but this temperature is enough for them.
I suppose it is a case of them acclimating to the temps they live in, and I suppose those of you that experience uber hot weather just get creative in the ways you keep them cool - I wish we could fill a paddling pool, but because of the hose pipe ban, they are having to make do with me squirting water on their chests and necks, which you would think they would like, but they seem to prefer the foot of muddy ditch water with the duck weed in, they absolutely HONKED when we got back today!
living in s florida summer is almost year round
i love the warm weather my dobie does too
90 + is the norm ( just pack plenty of water )
people think im nuts running in that weather
but then again im known to run my dog in the pouring rain too
Walking the dogs in the pouring rain is an occupational hazard in England
I used to think I would like to retire to the sun one day, but after a life time of cold and wet weather, with two weeks of sun know as the summer, my plans now revolve around the Scottish Isles, at least I would know what I was getting and wouldn't have to acclimatise to strange weather,i.e. dry and warm
Our weather is crazy, will be reaching ninety today, my tomatoes are loving it but the spinach is bolting. Tuesday the predicted high temperature is sixty five with lows in the fifty to forty five range.Good for spinach and cool weather plants but tomatoes like heat.
Thanks CJ, I have more photos of the dogs than I do the kids, not sure how they feel about that...... that's a big fat lie, it really pushes their noses out of joint
