No not all day.. They are only crated when the owner is at work. The daughter starts work at 2:30pm so they are crated from 2 till about 5:30 when the mother gets home.
And the dogs are never left alone unattended. Weather it be inside the home or outside. They are always supervised when they are together.
Fighting can lead to re-homing or euthanasia. It is a serious problem.
Some terriers like to fight, which can make it harder to control once it becomes an ingrained habit.
Terriers like "action".
At least they both have plenty of hair which can mitigate the damage somewhat--but a yorky is pretty fragile, they always lose if the battle is serious.

Yes. Or death by dog attack.
Ariane said "They should have no opportunity to fight at all or even think about it."
I agree. I hope that the owners are fully aware of this.
No matter how sad it might seem to separate carefully, to use drag lines constantly, to supervise like a laser beam, to limit interactions relentlessly ...... this is sad only to the humans.
To a dog who is being terrorized, it's not sad when the owners step in and completely remove all chances of attack.
I hope this scrupulous management is number one on the list of what to do first.
Everything else comes second, for me.
PS
I'm sure the O.P. can phrase it much more nicely.
All the above!
+ Terriers were bred to hunt/kill critters. Of all the dogs I've had, the terriers are closest to their heritage. Even with the show lines, if they don't show a lot of attitude they don't win. When I was showing in the breed ring (80s to early 90s) the terriers were usually faced off in front of one another. If they didn't "come up on their toes", ready to scrap they weren't looked at again.
On top of that I believe that two bitches (any breed) can have a serious vendetta. Two males may may decide whose top gun even without fighting but two females may hate till the day they die.
