Thanks Anne and Connie. If he was under duress, It would have been a no brainer. His vitals are still strong, and you would never guess anything is wrong with him by the way he is getting around.
She heads to the vet in half an hour. I'll keep you guys updated.
I'm feeling bad about the Nylabone, as before I left, I thought that I should throw it away because it was getting small.
The last dog I had in surgery for a blockage (corn cob hoovered off the kitchen floor when a trash bag broke without my son knowing it) died due to anesthesia complications the day after surgery. That was the conclusion of the autopsy. He never really came out of it.
I'm staying positive about the situation, but I'm still worried about him. He's a great dog, my granddaughter's best buddy, and Pam's medical alert dog, and if we were to lose him, I'm not there to train another dog for her... and I love that dog. He's my knucklehead

If surgery is needed, please ask here what protocols should be in place (like one staff member whose only job is to monitor the dog's vitals and the anesthesia).
We have step-by-steps for what to insist on for G/A, like an IV catheter in place, and more.

I can't find anything definitive David, but was it the solid Nylabone? If I remember right, some of the Gumabone type won't show on an xray.

I remember reading about that too, and how if no log poop has yet appeared, then the barium view obstruction is like an indication. Or something like that.
That is, they do an x-ray, and then if no conclusive result and still no good poop, they do a barium enema and repeat it.
This is strictly memory and I might not have it exactly right.

It's the white one that is only slightly softer than tool steel.

X-ray was clear, with Barium.
The vet suggested watching him for now, and offering food.
We'll see. I don't have a warm and fuzzy.

I don't know, David. I'd want to see a log poop on just overcooked in extra water (rice "gruel") liquified rice (blender after overcooking ) in t iny meals throughout the day.
I'd want to see a log before any "real" food further aggravates his inflamed gut. (It's inflamed by now, no matter what the diarrhea trigger was.)
