She actually as NO problems with the brush itself (I use a rubberized one) it's the taste of the paste. I'll consider just using the brush them, I'd always heard it was the enzymes in the toothpaste that actually made the difference, not the brushing XD guess I got that backwards lol I'll just use the brush in that case.
The type of fluoride added to tap water is only beneficial when the teeth are in their formative phase (tooth buds). Once the teeth erupt, topical fluoride in toothpaste is effective. Here, in the midwest, it is not uncommon for well water to naturally contain more fluoride than treated city water. (interesting fact, the fluoride used to treat city water is a non pharmaceutical grade, unprocessed industrial byproduct of the fertilizer industry)
Dogs don't suffer from dental decay nearly as much as they tend to have periodontal disease.
I'm glad you posted, Christy! I've been told by several dental expert vets the same as you said, but I've also been told that rubber bristles do the best work and are far easier to sanitize.
