Thanks for the link! I was thinking we had talked about the broad category of scent discrimination.
But only as one of the possibilities .... that is, scent discrimination is definitely not a requirement, but it would fit nicely under the umbrella description.
This will be a fun and exciting Round Two, I'm thinking!
Now I'm not sure my goal with Amber fits, I don't think technically we're doing place or object recognition. Will rethink our goal. We have until the 23rd, right.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.

My foster Soup will be learning how to weave between legs (luring), her targets (shaping), and I'm going to start freeshaping a heel as well She just got spayed, so we're going to start nice and slow.
Willow will be learning better more structured loose leash walking (heel position) and a cute trick (I"m thinking play dead)
Pending a new battery Ryuk will be starting to learn to ride a powerwheels 4 wheeler. Gamble's been doing mostly bikejoring stuff in preparation for the racing season, I think for him I'm going to work on calm quiet hook-ups and for OB I'd like to get him to stand for exam without turning into a wriggly little goofball when the judge touches him.
I figure I'll do final video for whomever progresses the nicest or whomever is most goofy in their training.
Kenzi - object discrimination. Goal is to teach her to recognize 3 different objects by name so she can go to the correct one when they're all together.

Here we are, mid-October, time to begin our second round, and time to post your stated goal and a short clip if applicable of the present non-compliance (or problem, if goal is based on solving an existing problem).
Make your goal-statement post here any time between now and midnight 10/23/13.
The deadline for your actual finished clip (your entry!) will be midnight 11/19/13.
Good luck to everyone!
Here is some clarification/update on the first short clip ... the one of "where we started."
If your goal is to correct an existing problem, then yes, a short clip of that would be good with your signup.
But for a new behavior, it was pointed out to me in more than one PM ( ), then including your first training session along with your final submission would be just great.
All it is, is showing "we started here and we got to here." Whatever is your easiest way is
just fine.
Please don't let lack of a pre-training video clip keep you from signing up here with your stated goal!

I will be attempting the same thing with Carlin. Right now he knows the generic "go get your toy," which really means go get anything you want to play tug with.
Since I started Trooper on K9 Nose Work 6wks back I wouoldn't use that for the contest but would teaching a bark alert qualify for the contest?
As of right now all he's doing is looking and finding food in boxes. No alert and not even stopping at the box yet.....other then to eat of course.
