As far as being left or right handed/brained....it doesn't mean your brain is made backwards, its just that instead of predominantly using the left (detail oriented, logical, categorizing) you predominantly use the right side (big picture oriented, artistic, emotional).
I'm a lefty too....but fairly ambidextrous.

Ambidextrous is common in lefties for the simple reason that the world is made for right handed people and we have to adjust for that. Most right handed folks are completely unaware of that.
Power tools for example. When I use a skill saw I do it right handed because using it left handed will give me a face full of sawdust. My jointer is set up for right handed folks. My drum sander, yadda, yadda. My son works on a table saw left handed because he learned on mine, set up for me.
When I groomed show dogs I had to buy more expensive scissors, stripping knives, etc. Right handed scissors would blister the crap out of my thumb if I used them left handed. I refuse to use the right handed ones because I didn't want to re learn right handed when I was grooming other folks show dogs.

I saw the newscast when they reported this it showed the dogs looking at silhouettes, I wonder if the results would be the same with real dog dog interaction. I'm a dominant leftie, Amber is also left pawed, but she carries her tail to the right, and wags to the right... is very people friendly but not dog friendly. If she has a choice she always places herself at my left side.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family. |

Bob, when I was in kindergarten I was forced to write with my right hand. That was a major contributing factor to my profound hatred of school.
I know what you mean about the world...even my phone is made for righties...all the buttons are within easy reach of your right thumb...you'd think they'd make it programmable for lefties.
When I used to scissor and clip dogs, I could easily switch hands...you know how otherwise one side of the face is easier. I taught myself that from the very beginning. Some things I just CAN'T do with my right hand, like opening lids...I just, can't! LOL

I'm a lefty, too. Although I do A LOT with my right hand...except use silverware, shoot pool & wright. Although at one time I could print well with my right hand. Just don't bother anymore.
So actually my right side is my dominant side & strength side...& my left has the finer motor skills. Even any sports...my right side was the strength side.
Yes, Tresa, I too had people try to force me to use my right hand. My mother always told me that my grandfather used to take the spoon from my left hand & place it in my right when I was a baby. Guess it never stuck, though. But I never had it forced on me in school (that I recall)...even though it was a strict catholic grade school. :-)

Maybe your Catholic school was different from Bob's ....
I've heard more than a few stories about Bob Versus The Nuns. (The nuns ran the table, BTW.
I don't recall any Bob wins. LOL)

Not even ONCE......but I don't dwell on that.....never...........really.....I don't.....honest.
Grade school nuns would tie my left hand behind my back or just swat my hand with the black board pointer.....or jab me with it....or pull my hair...........or smack me in the head with a book.....or lock me in the janitor's closet..or convent basement......or, or........
Mean, evil, wicked wimmins........but I don't dwell on that neither....%%#!^)+^&*(%$.........!@$%*^*(@
Character builders I tell ya!

One of my uncles was a lefty and the teachers tied his arm behind his back and beat him to try to force him to use his right hand in first grade.. once. Grandpa got wind of that and it never happened again.

Not my house! In more then one of the many meetings with the nuns at school my dad gave them permission to "knock some sense in him when he needs it". They never let him down.
