I'm going to teach Tanner to play goalie. I haven't taught him anything just for fun recently and we can do this one indoors. We'll start with him putting his foot on a puck and then advance to him "making a save" by stopping it before it goes past him. He's very paw based so I think he'll have fun with it.
Sasha and I are in too. Sasha already knows how to run through my legs when she returns with her ball. Now I'm going to attempt to teach her to weave through my legs as I walk (without barking her fool head off).
This will be interesting as I am 5 foot 7 and Sasha is 31 inches at the shoulder. If nothing else, we'll have a tape we can submit to Funniest Home Videos when she wipes me out.
Just for fun, Sasha says she wants to try Kasey's trick of holding a Goldfish cracker on her nose until I tell her she can eat it. This won't be an official entry cause I think she just wants the crackers but we'll give that a go too.
The only thing I've ever taught him to "take" is his kong or a ball.
I think he associates the "take" command to the objects (nouns) he loves and not the verb.
Bob, I have 20 minutes of footage of Duke staring at me offering every behavior he knows and IGNORING the toys.. which this morning he's picking up like he always does .. rofl
Intro to the rope...The dog fared better than I. Timing, rewards, trying to finagle the rope, awkward.
Hope the dog doesn't end up neutered while I learn.
I love this dog but handler soft is my biggest challenge in dog training.
Markers have taught me a lot of patience but Trooper reads my frustration like a book.
On top of that Thunder is one of those dogs that I can read the book with him and he does it.
My wife has always said that watching an ADD trainer (me ) train a ADHD dog (Trooper) is worth getting out the lawn chair, a Pepsi and a box of popcorn. Shes mean!
