Oh Bob! I lack the words. I was so shocked when I entered the forum this morning and read about your loss of Thunder.

The fact that he has reached a good age and has had such a wonderful life together with you and your family, does at the moment probably comfort somehow. But the longer we have been living with such a companion, the deeper the bond, the more it hurts.

You know I've never had to go through this with a dog, because I have mine only since about 4 and 1/2 years and before that I never had dogs.

But believe me, I know exactly what your going through, as I had many cats during my life and each time I lost one of them it was extremly painful. I'll never forget one of them.

I'm feelng with you with all my heart. Yes, also old people do cry, why shouldn't we? It's so normal. I cried for each cat during a long time.

You'll get over it, but it will need time, time. The only thing which helped me with each loss was to think back on the innumerable happy moments I spent with them. All those memories which enriched our life so much, are a great present we will never lose.

I could barely open the post, because of it's heading....
Although a posting newbie, I am no stranger to loving and losing my share of wonderful dogs. I am so sorry and hope your many great memories ease some of your sadness.
