Cheri, I will do that, I still want one on standby, as she is a air paddler. And doesn't mine choking herself when walking.
She is a great companion. Her issue with Jazz is his posture, it is not aggressive at all, and I expected that, as the terrier is apparent in her! I am looking forward to working with her she is a smart cookie!

Well I am officially in love . The kids came back from their visit with their dad, and she was so happy to see little people!
She was not scared of the snowblower or skidoo's as we cleaned up after our mega blizzard, and lives for ball play. I see a super happy future for us!
Jazz refuses to look at her, she has tried to play, so I redirect her when she focus's on him now. He tries to hide when she goes to sniff him, and I doubt he will warm up, not for a long while. Jim's training sucks, but I will stay out of it, he repeats his commands, whereas I do not. I can see Jazz does not respect him, but as long as he prefers him, that is his problem. When I have to I do intervene, when Jim leaves the room after putting him in a down. But otherwise I stay back. I am enjoying watching, so I can learn more about Jazz..sometimes the back seat is the place to be.
Domino is a sweetheart, I am glad she needed a home when I needed a buddy. There is nothing better to me than a cold wet nose waiting to get a petting, and the patter of feet behind me life is looking up!
On a high note, Jazz is coming for a sit when I am treating her, so he gets treated, but I say nothing to him. We may have moved up a bar in this relationship. But on my terms now, not his.

Oh, giving you early warning signs that's an other thing, certainly very useful for your safety. I by the way too respect and love bears but obviosly in fearful way if they were near to me. Sorry for the misunderstanding. You must know I've never in my life seen a bear in the wild or my yard (puuuuh!), only in zoos.
With the prong you'll certainly take the right decision if you inform yourself well how to use. I myself have one at home since about half a year but never used it. For my dogs the slip lead on walks was until now suficient. But in your case it's without doubt different. As you don't fear bears I'd try a prong once with one of them too.

Oh, Christina I would def shat my pants if one got too close, like last year, but my spunky girl would be sure to warn me!
Moms and cubs at this time of the year are not scary tho, the cubs are so small she is more intent on getting them away rather that attack..come fall that's a diff story..The grizzlies and black bears are the ones that scare me, sneaky buggers.
My sister is sending me my old small prong. I will keep it with me, but with the way this girl is going, she won't need it!
You were right Cheri. She is really flourishing here..
They sure do just fall in your life don't they!

Good all 'Round -- Yes, I would also treat Jazz when he offers appropriate behavior & interaction, but otherwise pretty much Ignore the Heck outta him ... A big dose of "his own medicine" (the Cold Shoulder, ha) might go l long way

Oh she is a rotti stuck in a dog body! She has a no Jazz policy, so I am going to have to desensitize her to him and she growled and snapped at me when I was putting her bone on her bed. After she got corrected she was good, thankfully. We are starting our training now, as she has really great focus, and I would like to nip her fualts in the bud right away rather than let her settle with them..she is a right terror on his rear!
There will be a lot of dragging leashes in my house til summer

Thanks guys! His medicine is working, for both of us, he has great focus with Jim, even if he isn't following the commands for him, he still has eyes on his face and has crossed hurdles I could not!
She has passed the skidoo/snowblower test, and even though she is still testy with certain things, she is a doll to work with, and I believe she is just testing. I see a future berry picking guard in my fall future

On one hand I would normally not reward randomly offered behaviors but in this instance your working to create a bond with the dog.
Just don't carry it to far because the dog could start thinking that he is demanding treats from you and your giving in to that demand.
