Ditto! Yes, we are aready almost like a family, some of you since years and years, and we are all concerned with you and feel happy, if some day - hope soon - you'll be able to send us good news.It sounds already much better. And yes, she is in the best hands. I know, you'll give us feedback, once you find the time.
“If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, then you are a leader” – Rudyard Kipling
The old lady continues to amaze me. Yesterday morning Paul came home from work (he was on nights) and I wasn't quite ready to carry her down the stairs yet when I heard him shout "wait!". I ran to the stairs and found Toni in front of the door looking at me wagging her tail. Once again she was unwilling to wait and took it upon herself to get things moving.
Paul said she went down the stairs like nothing was even wrong with her. Out in the yard she went potty and wandered around, using her bad leg a little once in a while. She tired herself out and I hauled her up the stairs and she napped for a while.
I am not pleased with her going down the stairs as she could have messed up the hip again, but it was nice to see her putting that foot down more. To be clear- we only have 5 stairs that we go down to get to the door- it's not a whole staircase that I am carrying her up and down.
We had Eleven out in the living room with her for a little bit and she had no problem putting the pup in her place when she got a little obnoxious. She is not ready for Fennec yet, though.
She continues to eat well and get stronger. Her wanderings are getting longer each time she goes out. She gets restless at night, and I am not sure why- I don't allow her to sleep in her normal place yet because it is between the bed and the wall- if she got into a position the she couldn't get herself up, it would be too hard to get her out of there - so that might be the reason she is restless.
She has also started to lay on the bad leg. That makes me think that pressure on it no longer hurts. It looks like a bit of a struggle to get up from laying on the bad leg, but she does it.... she lets us know when she does not want help- she will go all limp when she doesn't want us to pick her up. She has always been independent so as long as it looks like she won't hurt herself, we let her do it - she is sensible enough to know what she can and can't do at this point.
She still has a long way to go - and Paul has been told to close the door - like it or not she is still going to be carried up and down the stairs for a while yet... but things are looking a little better.
