Rock, I also bought this food last month. My dog really doesn't like it. She will eat the rabbit, but leaves the other. I think that I tried to transition from kibble to barf too quick because she barfed the barf on the fourth day. I have been keeping the stuff in the freezer and went back to Azmira human grade kibble. I don't know if I'm going to reintroduce it or not. It's also very expensive (as you know), if I follow the directions I'll spend at least $200 per month per dog. I paid around three bucks per pound.
One thing that I think is less appetizing about Aunt jenni's pre-packaged barf is that it's ground up to a mush. It's great that the bones are not a danger, but I think chicken meat or any other barf meat is more enjoyable in it's original state. I give my dogs raw bones to keep them occupied anyway.
Ringsport - I tried it with my guys too - I honestly think it was the vinegar that put them off - I bet a home made diet - cheaper for sure, and no vinegar - would be much more appetizing - was for my gang.
While I can see some benefit of feeding BARF, I haven't found enough benefit to feed it as opposed to a superpremium food. I just don't think the cost/time incurred is worth it. There are other very good foods out there that give all of the nutrition and benefit of BARF. I personally use canidae and turned several of my club members on to it. The results speak for themselves. Ask Ikor, he'll attest. In addition to the canidae, I add some missing link + gluco, and vitamin C powder. So far, so good.
IMHO, its the best out there that I've seen. I really never jump on the soapbox about too many things, but this product is remarkable. One of the FEW foods that actually advertises and marks their products "Fit for human consumption". We've had some extremely good results with our club members regarding overall appearance, energy levels, stamina improvement, clearing up allergy lesions, curing dry skin/coat, coat luster and fullness. In addition, you pay just about as much (sometimes even less) that Science Dirt (Diet), and Pukeanuba, which are all packed with deadly carcinogens, toxins and often times euthanized animals from shelters that have been rendered. No shit on this. Canidae has NONE of this crap, period. Fianlly, the amounts you feed daily are greatly reduced due to no fillers/additives so the food lasts longer and there is less shit to worry about if you are a scooper.
