Kim that couldn't have been a pure breed Rotiweiler (was it??) maybe it was mixed with Matsiff or it was one of those South Africa Boreboles mixes. But thats even large for them.
Ripley beleive it or not had a 300 lb Matsiff on TV very over weight but happy. For a dog that can't run a block. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
I adopted out a Rottie I found. He was with me for two months. Huge and skinny was he at about 14mo at 115lb ... plenty rib, very big bonned, huge teeth, neutered (on early age, but I saw plenty of prey drive) I have my own two Rotts (oldest is intact 5yo male)they are both smaller then this guy was, althogh my 5yo-105lb is(and I'm not kidding)about 10 times stronger.
As long the dog is in fit and healthy condition, whats wrong with a Rottweiler weights 135lbs or even heavier??
I am not saying bigger is better, but when you look at Wotan, Bravo and few others from AUSTRIA, they all got titles and all champs.
I think most of the breeder find hard to get a healthy fit large dog like the dogs I mentioned above, but that doesnt mean smaller type is better.
Rottweilers should be large heavy boned type(but not large such as 200lbs). If people perfer smaller type, then they should get a Boxer with black colour.
thanks for all your input. he is still growing like a weed, 80 lbs now.(6 1/2 months) Very healthy looking, and other pups from litter are all as big. I think he's just going to be avery big dog.
Hi all, I guess I'm the new kid in town. Saw the post on Rotties and had to investigate. I have a rotti cross, she has 1/8 German Shepherd. She isn't a large one, at 16 months, she weighs about 85 pounds and is about 25" tall. She isn't thin but lean and muscular. I think that's how Rotts look best is when you can see the muscle when they move. I have trained lots of Rotts that are just too fat..I think some people think that they look meaner if they are wider...I think they just look fat...Just my 2 cents..
Is it really true that she will continue to grow in height til 2 years and weight until she is 3 years? That is something I hadn't heard.
