Actually, I've regularly given owner's arms "corrections" with both choke and prong collars. They recognize that they are not typically getting the correction with the same force they are handing it out to their dog (I don't want to be arrested for assault), but the application of the correction is correct.
I want them to get a "feel" for the tactile quality difference in the prong and choke. Most of them are smart enough to "fill in the blanks".
Most of them also almost immediately agree to using the prong on their dogs.
I've also regularly tested my own or prospective shock collars on my arm. I initially was curious and wanted a practical sense of the how the various levels felt, and then had a new respect for the strength of my dogs and their ability to resist correction when they thought "worth it".
I still think it gave me a pretty good feel for what a dog experiences with a prong collar on-and that was the point of the exercise. Putting it on my thigh or arm or whatever may have worked to, but I thought the neck would be more fair.
