They recognize that they are not typically getting the correction with the same force they are handing it out to their dog (I don't want to be arrested for assault), but the application of the correction is correct. I want them to get a "feel" for the tactile quality difference in the prong and choke. Most of them are smart enough to "fill in the blanks". Most of them also almost immediately agree to using the prong on their dogs. I've also regularly tested my own or prospective shock collars on my arm. I initially was curious and wanted a practical sense of the how the various levels felt, and then had a new respect for the strength of my dogs and their ability to resist correction when they thought "worth it". Putting it on my thigh or arm or whatever may have worked to, but I thought the neck would be more fair. And believe it or not, I have managed to tickle myself before- ...learn something new every day.
