From what I saw, there a fair amount of variation in size and apperance in this breed ( enough so that Chris Carr attempted to compete in the ADWF with one as an American Bulldog and was disquailified due to it )
Some of the photo's, I've seen look like herders( Mal's and D Shep's) with natural stand up ears and others that look like presa canario or big pit crosses with cropped ears. I like the idea of a Donovan Pinscher. But, would rather see a rebirth of the Doberman Pinscher as a working dog in this country.
Dobermann...praise the Lord! Call me crazy, but that's the breed I'll be saving when I have the time and money. My heart and soul is won over my those dogs! Give it time and they'll be back for good.

is the donovan pincher outlawed or something from competing in ADWF? I'm curious because if an AB can compete (I'm guessing since he tried to pass it off as one) why wouldn't a DP be able to?
Chris, the ADWF is made up of member clubs that hold their own competitions and send a representitive team composed of those *breeds*to compete in the ADWF events.
The Donovan Pincher's don't have a breed club and are not eligible to compete in that event - to enter one under the guise of it being an AB was simply fraud on Chris Carr's part.
And if anyone else is getting sleeve time on these dogs, I'd love to hear your opinions - they're been seen more in reality-based protection sports ( and winning ) and one will pop up in an ASR trial eventually, I'm sure.
And Chris, when there's a big enough population of them that they can get a breed club recognized by the ADWF, they'll be eligible to compete then. If they breed true and maintain their characteristics, then breed recognition by some organization is certainly possible.
According some post on their board, a couple of their dogs are working as drug or patrol dogs and couple of owners are involved in Schutzhund too. I'm interested in how the DP performs. I like the idea big, fast, agile and tenacious working dogs. If you can get the speed of a Mal, nerves of a good GSD, tenacity and intimadating look of a bulldog breed. Especially in a healthy 90 to 105 pound dog that can actually work all day.
Is the Donovan a true bred? I don't know. What type of documentation do you need to prove it is a bred. How many generations does it take to get the standard dog for the foundation of the breed? How many generations, do you have to bred the standard to actually call it a breed?
Personally for me, until there is some uniformity in size and appearance without the huge variations. I don't think anyone can call it a breed. Until ,people can look at several dogs and say each one is a Donovan Pinscher.
If, you look at photo's on the web. Some look like big Dutch Shepherds and Mal's, while other's look like pitbull crosses. Has any one seen these dogs in person? What were your impression? Are they competing in dog sports? If, so how are they doing?
After doing some research I found some invovled involved in PSA,Sch and some are in police work. I wish him luck if they can reach a standard and breed actual working dogs.
