I know this is an old post but has anyone had problems with Frontline Plus NOT working?
I have used it for quite some time now but am seeing a population of fleas that is quite resistant; we have been basically flea free for 7 years and this is overhwhelming. Even going to monthly application (never needed that much before) is not working.
Buying some Advantage today - dogs got a flea bath yesterday. It is not pretty. May have to do all those things I remember doing before the great flea products came out.

Frontline has become less effectif cause of resitance of the ticks and other nice little creatures I used advantix once in may and haven't seen a tick or flea since.Last year with frontline my dog was a tik magnet.
Be aware there are 2 products out there with almost the same name one for fleas and the other for fleas and other creatures.
Other thing to keep in mind is that advantix is also leathal for cats.
Greetings

The cat thing has kept me away from Advantix
I do not know HOW lethal it is - my dogs and cats don't hang out together -- but I do use my cats in dog training (a good distraction for the long down with is throwing hot dogs at the cat who is a few feet from the dog)

I called customer support at Merial and they seemed pretty non-helpful.
They just said no problems have been reported with the product and that my dogs were not infested that they are just picking them up, they will be killed in so many hours and cannot procreate, and I calmly explained this is the first time in many years I have faced a flea infestatation and know when my dogs are infested as I am old enough to remember flea infestations, flea dips, flea combs, sevin dust, etc. etc. They seemed pretty oblivious to the idea that the product may not be working in all flea populations. I am in upstate SC, you are in FL ..... demographics?

I live in an area where ticks, mosquitos and fleas are all very prominent. If I dont use anything, ticks will be on him FAST. Not just one or two, a dozen or more.
I use Advantix and it works GREAT. The only time I find a tick on my boy is if I forget to apply it, then within a day or less, it is working again.
I havent tried any other product so I cant comment, but I can say Advantix DEFINATELY works great and FAST! And it works for fleas, ticks AND mosquitos, I dont think the other products protect against all three.

Hi Nancy
Maybe it has sometime to do with all the rain last year. I am still using the Frontline, I am bug bombing my house and have gotten out the flea comb. I am dipping the flea comb in spray while I mutter "die you dirty flea, die.." This is pure anti flea stuff and they manage to swim around for a while.
We have an atomic power plant about 40 miles from me and I am starting to wonder if these suckers escaped from there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
We are treating the yard, but it's not exactly a small back yard and I don't think we are making a dent in the population. I am finding about 20 dead fleas for every live one but it is very frustrating.

Hi Nancy,
I remember when I lived in Florida (and the fleas were bad!) I sprayed the yard with alternative pesticides (1 month=diazinon, next month=malathion) the egg cycle on fleas were 30 days and this prevented them to become resistant to one particular pesticide.
Maybe that's what is happening with the Frontline, try Advantix and then switch back and see if it breaks the cycle.

Not sure you can get this where you are at but there is another flea, tick, and mosquitoe med. called Boi-Spot. It has alway worked really good. But it has a stronger order than the rest and one of my dogs really dislikes it. But it does work well.
