What gets to me the most is that they are more concerned of a dog in a car with open windows in 70 degree weather for 2 minutes, than when their neighbors abuse/neglect their own children. IMO these people have absolutely no regard for human life- they are so worried about sticking their noses in others' business regarding pets.

This is true, but there are idiots out there that take their dog(s) with them to the mall and leave them in the car (windows cracked or not) for hours, as well. One example was back a few months ago when my aunt, uncle, and I went out to lunch together. When we pulled into the parking lot, there was a van with two or three little yappy dogs in it parked in front of the restaurant. The windows were cracked maybe half a centimeter, if that much, and the sun was out. When we left, an hour later, the van was still there. I went back inside to see if it was anyone eating in the restaurant, but no one answered the page, so I called the police dept. (animal control only handles complaints in the county, while the police have to take care of any that are inside the city limits) and told them about it. They said they would be sending someone over, but I don't know whatever happened because I had to go back to work.
These PETA-freaks mean well, but they just have no clue about how to go about things and who to target their attention on.

I agree, there certainly are also people with no regard for their pets either. I was more referring to the extremists.

I used to have a lot of dents in my vehicle from people like thats heads. I have calmed down quite a bit. At any rate I like to make them cry, by telling them that every minute they waste with me that thousands of animals are cruelly locked up in comfortable houses, with expensive beds and basically every luxury. How cruel that is when they could be roaming freely, to be killed off by rival packs, or to be kicked in the head by a prey animal breaking their jaw, so that it hangs down and they slowly starve to death. Of course I mention the extra cold winters that they are being deprived of, where if they don't get enough calories in them, the cold takes thier lives.
How dare we! I still dream of the good old days where people like that were allowed to have dumb opinions, and we were allowed to beat them for it
I say we normal people pass a law that allows US to pack up and chase them around. Well, at least I'm not bitter.
Jeff you crack me up......I was read the riot act for walking my dog with a prong collar.....hes a powerful dog and the prongs do the job, this lady told me "you are going to tear his flesh by jerking on the leash like that with that barbaric thing around his neck"... He just looked at her with his head cocked to the side....and I said " I know exactly what you mean" to the DOG!

Exactly, I was parked in a strip mall that has a Blockbuster, a take out pizza place and the post office. I mean really how long could I possibly be gone for?

Stuff like this makes me glad that I look like career axe murderer. Couple my appearance with having Fetz on the leash and "presto", no problems with stupid people's comments...

I did that a while back. I left my three kids and two uncrated GSDs in the van to grab some bread milk and eggs. I left the AC on and the windows rolled up. When I got back to the van there was three sheriff cars and the animal control truck parked right next to the van. No officers were in sight so I took off. the only thing I can figure was they were taking statements or maybe the Sheriff decided to finish his coffee and call the wife before moving on it
