Speakin' of smoky, bluesy voices, this cuts me to the bone...
Son of a Preacherman
Here is a cover from Pulp Fiction that was miles better than the original...
Urge Overkill
One of my favorite scenes and songs from Pulp Fiction...
F*%# Pride!
Son of a Preacher Man is a GREAT song, from a great movie!

A Little different, but I think this 13 year old child just showed me the real meaning of beauty.
Watch this if you want to witness Grace.

Good one, Betty...
I followed Rion on XFactor this past season. She IS very talented...
@David; I hadn't payed much attention to Halestorm, even though
I Get Off
has been getting some airplay on NOLA's new Alt Rock station recently. I love their groove.
Many friends my age are Classic Rock fans who have drawn a line in the sand and refuse to be open to Modern Rock. Personally, I love the musicianship of a lot of the new generation of Rock artists. I find myself identifying their old-school Rock influences when I listen to music these days. It is so easy to hear the Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Ten Years After, Deep Purple, Foghat, and Led Zeppelin in some of the new music, and I can't believe my friends won't even acknowledge it.

She's a Florida girl, I'm going to have to keep an eye out, would love to see her in person.

I was inspired by her spirit before she started singing. What an amazing girl. It says something about her family that she has the perspective and charisma that she does.
And then she started singing! Truly amazing!
Thanks for sharing this Betty. It made my morning

Wow, you guys! I haven't seen X-Factor or American Idol ... I guess I assumed (and you know what they say about "assume" ..... ) that it couldn't be worthwhile.
However, this link goes from 1 second to 6.40 instantly. Are you guys able to watch the whole thing?

Also, this "Many friends my age are Classic Rock fans who have drawn a line in the sand and refuse to be open to Modern Rock. I have to stop drawing that line. It would be great if folks posted Modern Rock faves along with maybe one or two of the influences. (If anyone is interested.) I admit that I'm one of the "real rock ended in 1979" idjits.

For some reason, you have to hit the "replay" button after it skips to the end. It plays ok the second time.

I kinda fall into that category, too. I confess I am more than a bit prejudiced in favor of the kind of music I listened to in my young adult years. It seems to me that many people are that way, regardless of age. I wonder if there is a scientific explanation for that? Maybe the musical portion of our brains is most easily influenced at that time of our lives and becomes "set" in some way? IDK, but I'm really making an effort to be open-minded to new (to me) music, and I'm finding some I really like!
Also, thanks, Connie, for reposting Santana, "Soul Sacrifice"!!!
