My next sister and I used to thrill* the whole family (parents plus six girls and one all-suffering boy) with our amazing rendition of the Maverick theme song, ALL THE TIME.
It took very little for us to burst into "Who is the tall dark stranger there .... "
Maverick was during the heyday of tv westerns and that was dominated by Warner Bros with Maverick, Sugarfoot,Cheyanne, Bronco Lane and a number of others from Warner Bros and other studios.
You sat on the living room floor and kept your mouth shut so dad didn't miss anything.
None lasted longer then Gunsmoke though.
John Wayne turned down the part as Matt Dillon because of movies he was involved in at the time.
My big 'brother' met Garner & he signed a script for him. He knew that I like him so much ...He gave me his signed script. I was so thrilled. I must have been about 12 or 13 yrs old maybe.LOL
He was a great character actor & one of the good guys.
Bob really liked him too and mentioned we should watch "Support Your Local Sheriff" in his honor last night. He went on about what a great comedy it was. Couldn't find it on Netflix though.
Maybe they'll have a James Garner day where we get to watch a bunch of his shows.

"How to Support Your local Sheriff" was a great comedy.
Jack Elam was JG's side kick and that was the first time I saw Jack as a good guy. With his looks he was always evil but in that movie had me in stitches.
Aww Duane, okay, I'll bite (don't worry, no where near as bad as our canines are capable of), what's "Earwowm Day"? It can't be good. The song wasn't that bad, it was hot out!
Here's a classic. Loved it when Randy played it years ago. Didn't know him well but sure do miss his posts. Must be time for it again.
