LOL... Every now and then someone (often, Connie) will post an "earworm", a catchy song that you can't get out of your head once you've been infected. Then, in order to infect as many readers as possible, other posters will take up the gauntlet and post earworms that they find especially contagious.

AHA...so it wasn't a bad song, just catchy. Cool...but not that day.
The first time I took my kids to Disney World in the early 80s the ride broke down when we were in "It's a small world" for +20 mins.
That !@#$%& song never stopped.
I know I'm going to regret even commenting on it.

Actually, I always thought of earworms as being both catchy AND very unwelcome .....
I didn't even know people had "favorite" ones! I thought of them all as bad, and sticking in your head like glue.
Very interesting!
Couldn't we have a different word for "good song, but can't stop humming it" ?
PS
Thank goodness we have this thread for exploring the deep issues of the day.
Interesting indeed. I guess I figured earworms can be either a song you like or a song you hate, though I think the term "earworm" has a negative connotation. Who wants to think of worms in your ears?
